How to get there
Location
The Veerabhadra temple at Lepakshi in Andhra Pradesh is quite famous for the hanging pillar, attracting hundreds of tourists round the year. The 16th century Vijayanagara monument enshrines Lord Shiva as Veerabhadra Swamy, in a self manifested linga (Swayambhu). Apart from this religiously significant linga, one can see India’s biggest monolithic Nandi statue situated only a few hundred metres away from the main temple. Once you enter the temple premises, ensure that you tilt your head up to look at the well preserved frescoes on the temple ceilings based on Ramayana and Mahabharata that charm the devotees till date. The temple is carved out of a low altitude, tortoise-shaped hillock, Kurma Saila. The temple wright Virupanna was convicted a victim of envy from king’s courtiers and lost his eyes, disheartened from an ordered punishment.
How to Reach
The most comfortable way to reach Lepakshi from Bengaluru is by booking a cab. You can also take a bus from Bengaluru to Hindupur. From Hindupur you can easily board another bus to reach Lepakshi. Well connected through the main city via all means of transport.
Best time to visit
Timings: 5 AM to 12:30 PM and 4 PM to 8:30 PM.
The darshan for the devotees is open all days a week. Timings are subjected to change during festivals, important rituals and during Grahan (solar and lunar eclipse).

Hotels near Lepakshi Temple – There is no Temple Guest house available.
But there are some good nearby hotels where people could stay and AP Tourism Hotel is there near Nandi. Hindupur is the nearest place where there are number of good hotels are available to stay.
Travel tips
The nearest railway station to Lepakshi is Hindpur Railway Station which is 14 km away from it. From here you can easily take a cab or a bus and head towards your destination. Nearest airport to Lepakshi is the Banglore International airport which is 100 km away from it.

Mallikarjuna Temple Kambaduru
The Mallikarjuna temple is located in the outskirts of Kambadur amidst green farms and fields. Overlooked by tourists and locals, it is one of the more simplistic and less ornamented temples in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Though not much is known about the temple, it is constructed in Chalukyan style of architecture. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Mallikarjuna Swamy. Walls of the temple have carvings of armies proceeding for war, and other themes.
Bugga Ramalingeswara Temple, Tadipatri
Bugga Ramalingeswara temple is situated on the southern banks of River Penna in Tadipatri, Andhra Pradesh. It was built in the 15th century, during the reign of King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara Empire.
Soumyanath Temple, Nandalur
Located in Nandalur city, Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh, Soumyanath temple is dedicated to Lord Balaji in the form of a seven foot idol of Soumyanath Swamy. Goddess Maha Lakshmi Ammavaru is seen on the chest of the presiding god holding two lotus flowers. Apart from this many smaller shrines dedicated to deities like Lord Prayoga Narasimha Swamy, Ganapati and Anjaneyaare present in the complex.
Chintala Ramana Swamy temple, Tadipatri
Chintala Ramana Swamy temple was built in the 15th century near the banks of River Penna in Tadipatri, Andhra Pradesh. Built in the glorious Vijayanagara style of architecture, the temple is dedicated to Chintala Ramana Swamy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is made of locally abundant black stone and known for splendid and intricate carvings.
